Burger King App Deals SUCK! Coupons Are Better!

I've written about Burger King several times in the past - see here, here, and here - but I never wrote about how the "Deals" in the app are HORRIBLE when compared to the local coupons given in monthly mailings. Today, I spotted the ABSOLUTE WORST example of this. Read on to find out more...
Yesterday, I received a small amount of Burger King coupons in the mail tucked inside the weekly supermarket circulars. One of them was this 2 Whopper Jr. Burgers + 2 Medium French Fries deal for $6.99.

To say that this is a FANTASTIC deal is an understatement. By comparison, at the Valley Stream, New York restaurant - which charges $6 & $8 (respectively) for the "2 for $5" and "3 for $7" deals they advertise on TV - you can get ONE Whopper Jr. and ONE Medium Fries for $6. With this coupon, you get DOUBLE the amount for just $1 more.
Now, let's look at a comparative deal in the Burger King app, as it appears on September 18, 2026. The best the app can give us is 2 Whopper Jr. Burgers + 2 SMALL French Fries for $12.99. WHAT... THE... FUCK!

Not only are you getting a SMALLER amount of fries for almost DOUBLE the price of the coupon, but it's $1 MORE with LESS fries than if you bought two "2 for $6" deals ($12 total) for 2 Whopper Jr. Burgers + 2 Medium French Fries.
While that's the worst deal the Burger King app currently has to offer, it's not the only bad deal to be found. That same coupon set had an offer for 2 Whopper Burgers + 2 Medium French Fries + 2 Medium Drinks for $14.99.

By comparison, the app will give you 2 Whopper Burgers + 2 Small French Fries + 2 Small Drinks for $18.99. You're getting a SMALLER amount of fries for FOUR DOLLARS MORE! That's horrible.

The deals aren't any better for single-person meals. The app regularly has a $9.99 (full size) Whopper meal deal that includes the burger, small fries, and a small drink. Every month I usually get a coupon that gives the same full-size Whopper burger, but with medium fries and a medium drink, for only $7.99. That's almost as bad as this coupon/deal comparison, but at least the app isn't charging you DOUBLE the price for less food.
I should also mention that the app used to have a weekly "free any size fries" deal that could be used in-restaurant or in-app. At some point in 2026, it changed to in-app only, which meant I could no longer use it since I pay for my orders in-restaurant. Eventually, that was dropped in favor of a (so far) permanent "$2 Large Fries" deal, which isn't as good. Especially when you consider that competitor McDonald's currently is offering a weekly "free medium fries" deal in their app. They copied what Burger King used to do, while Burger King regressed.
One last thing to mention... The Burger King app will, with some frequency, offer "free item" deals, but they can ONLY be used for in-app orders. Those of us who pay in-restaurant with cash can't get these freebies. Us cash-payers also have to jump through some hoops if we want to redeem points for soft drink rewards as those, for some reason, can't be used with in-restaurant orders like all of the other rewards. To redeem for soft drinks, I have to place a separate in-app order for just the drink with a $0.00 total, but I still have to provide a payment method even though there is nothing being charged. Thankfully, the gift card balance that I can't use up (see previous article) serves as a "payment method" that won't be charged for this order.
In conclusion, I hope that by sharing this information, it will help others better save money at Burger King. I also shared this information with my executive contact at Burger King who runs the app loyalty program. With any luck, before 2026 is over, the deals in the app will improve and be comparable to the physical monthly coupons.
